To stay up-to-date on the admission process, each candidate is expected to be familiar with the Jamb CAPS portal.
It is one thing to go through with the UTME and it’s another to know exactly how to follow up on your admissions.
So, in this article, we will help you navigate through the portal with ease using the easy-to-follow steps we will share with you, as the 2023/2024 Jamb CAPS admissions process is available.
What is JAMB CAPS?
The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been in charge of conducting matriculation examinations for intending undergraduates since 1989.
The board has also been in charge of placing students in tertiary institutions they qualified for, allocating examiners, moderators, and so on but, recently, to provide more quality services, the board created a central admissions processing system (CAPS).
CAPS is an automated system that has been put in place to make all the manual exercises easier and make both candidates and schools have a smoother admissions process. Candidates no longer have to wait for schools to come up with lists of successful candidates before knowing their fate.
How is JAMB CAPS useful?
The following are some of the things the CAPS platform can be used for
1. To have access to one’s admission status.
2. To choose between accepting and rejecting admissions.
3. For easy upload of credentials such as O-level results.
4. Verification of Waec/Neco results.
5. To confirm admission offers.
6. Make available a platform for schools to choose candidates.

1. Get internet access.
2. Visit the JAMB e-facility using the Chrome browser.

NOTE: it is important to go through things properly. After checking your admission status, if you have been awarded admission, you must log in and accept or reject the admission. If you accept the admission, it will be wise to print your letter of admission as evidence to the institution during the screening exercise.
Common admission offers messages
After following the easy steps above, there are certain messages that you may find on your dashboard such as admitted, recommended, not admitted, and admission in progress.
When the message “Recommended” pops up on your screen, it simply means that you have probably been offered admission elsewhere other than your school of choice.
Admission in progress is simply trying to tell you that you have to exercise patience and visit the site much later. Your schools of choice could still be computing the names of the admitted candidates and have not displayed them on the site yet.
The “Not Admitted” message is very clear to understand as it simply means NO school has offered you admission, probably because your Jamb score was too poor or thereabout.
If “Admitted” pops up, I guess Congratulations are in order as you have not only passed the examination but have also been offered admission into the school of your choice.
Going through the easy steps we have provided will have you navigating through your JAMB CAPS dashboard confidently in no time. Best of luck!
