Forgive your past | The Bond Services

We all have histories and memories with blocks of experiences that have been with us, thus, taking an introspective view of these winding lanes would take us to places we would rather wish to forget.  If we forge ahead in the direction we are set to create, we must learn to forgive the past. While it is not entirely possible to discard the memories of the past, we should seek to understand, accept and release the burden that the memories of the past hold on us.

Our past experiences have a subtle way of impacting our lives. When these experiences carry a negative tone, they live indelible marks on our subconscious thereby shaping us in ways we cannot imagine and ultimate preventing us from moving forward.  The past happened and should remain there, in the past. You will do yourself a favor to LEAVE THE PAST BEHIND.

You can forgive your father who never believed in you, the teacher who belittled you, the brother who raped you or the family who never gave you a chance.

Forgiving your past does not imply pretending it did not happen. In fact, it means acknowledging the experiences and the impact they had on you, learning from the lessons and letting go of the negative emotions that have lingered.

Where should you start from? To give yourself the permission to move forward, you will need to be unburdened from the weight of the past. You can start by reflecting those experiences and sharing with somebody you trust or write them down instead. Doing this give you the opportunity to come face-to-face with the experience but this time, you are not reliving the pain instead you are trying to find the lessons hidden within these experiences.

You could also go ahead and engage in the act of forgiveness. Each of the experiences you have listed should be addressed while you engage in the act, you can verbalize your intentions. Doing this will bring a sense of relief and closure and if you engage in this consistently, you will find out that you are no longer held bound by the pain of your past but like a bird who had escaped a snare, you are released to fly into your future with no boundaries.
